Vecom Takes Over Marine

Division Of Houseman

The Marine Division of the Brit- ish company, Houseman (Burnham)

Ltd. has been acquired by Vecom

B.V. of Maassluis, Netherlands.

Aiming at strengthening its water treatment operations in specific geographical areas of the industrial market, Houseman wanted to res- tructure its International Division.

This offered Vecom the opportunity to expand its business in the inter- national marine market with regard to water treatment, maintenance products, and technical services. All

Houseman personnel involved and offices are included in the deal. The

British firm has been involved in water treatment since 1876.

Vecom, a member of the German

Benckiser Group, has produced chemical cleaning and maintenance products for the marine market since 1953. Water treatment is also one of its specialties.

The acquisition is seen as giving

Vecom a much stronger U.K. base and providing important support for its most recent division, Vecom

Technical Services. That division specializes in optimizing engine room machinery efficiency by use of electronic monitoring techniques and support equipment.
