Today, MSC relies on the U.S. private Merchant Marine for point-to-point movement of equipment and supplies to deploy and sustain U.S. Forces. MSC operates 52 ships with civil service crews to support fleet operations and special missions worldwide. The fleet includes state-of-the- art fleet oilers, tugs, ammunition, hospital, cable laying, range instrumentation, oceanographic research and surveillance ships.
