And as illustrated by the chart to the right, there is a steady stream of vessels either contracted or planned for construction in the coming years.

The Caribbean continues to be the number one destination for ca- pacity placement, as this market (which is comprised of Caribbean,

Bahamas, and Western Caribbean) accounts for a 50.4 percent share of capacity placement.

Other leading markets include:

Western Mexico (9.6 percent); The

Mediterranean (9 percent); Alaska (6.7 percent); Trans Cana Cruises (4.9 percent); Europe (4.1 percent);

Bermuda (2.8 percent) and Hawaii (1.8 percent).

A final good omen from the North

American cruise industry comes from a recent study by Price

Waterhouse, which was underwrit- ten by the International Council of

Cruise Lines (ICCL).

The study revealed that the cruise industry plans to add 134,712 full time jobs to the U.S. economy in the next four years, this on top of the 450,166 U.S. jobs it currently pro- vides.
