House Proposes $1.9

Billion Ship Subsidy Plan

The House Merchant Ma- rine & Fisheries Committee re- cently unveiled a maritime revi- talization package which calls for a 10-year, $1.9-billion sub- sidy, beginning in fiscal 1996 and covering 90 U.S.-flag ves- sels. The deal is slightly more than the package the Bush ad- ministration sought last year.
