Norway's Lyngs0 Marine has changed its name to Valmarine in order to emphasize its product identity, and distinguish itself from a Danish company of the same name which manufactures a different range of products.

Located outside Olso, Valmarine supplies Damatic XD control, alarm and monitoring systems to a wide range of vessels, including cruise ships, product carriers, high-speed craft and research and naval vessels. The company was originally founded as a subsidiary of Valmet Automation in Finland, which is still its major sub-suppli- er.

Navy Initiates Vessel-

Naming Competition

Elementary and secondary school students have been invited to form teams of four or more to research and propose a name for the U.S. Navy's newest oceano- graphic survey vessel. This project was initiated by Oceanographer of the Navy Radm. Paul Tobin, and authorized by Navy Secretary

John Dalton.

Reps from winning teams will receive trips to Washington, D.C., and the grand winner will receive a trip to the ship's christening and launch.
