One grounded 306' tuna vessel. One oil response barge.

One fleet of tugs. One supply boat. One massive cleanup crew. Seven critical species saved.

It took just 2-1/2 hours for Crowley Marine Services to dispatch its vessels after the M/V Fortuna Reefer ran aground in Isla de Mona, Puerto Rico. With 100,000 gallons of fuel aboard, preventing an oil spill was critical. Isla de Mona is a habitat for a variety of near-endangered and endangered wildlife species ranging from the Hawksbill Turtle to the Red-footed Booby. Addressing both the salvage of the ship and the environmental ramifications

Crowley started to mobilize immediately. Using an oil spill response barge, five tugs, a supply boat and a crew of 74 professionals adept in all phases of the cleanup, CMS was able to free the ship without a drop of oil being spilled. Finding a better way to do it, and then doing it safely is a Crowley hallmark. For further information call Mike Rampolla at 1-800-248-8632. e CROWLEY MARINE SERVICES
