NoFire Technologies Helps Ships

Meet SOLAS

In December 1996 the IMO adopted amendments to the SOLAS Convention that affect fire safety measures aboard ships. The amendments encompass a new International Code for the Applica- tion of Fire Test Procedures, which has been made mandatory on or after July 1. 1998.

These significant changes affect Chap- ter II-2 of the SOLAS Code, Construc- tion-Fire protection, fire detection and fire extinction. Regulation 34 requires nearly all exposed and concealed sur- faces to have low flame-spread charac- teristics, as well as all paints not being capable of producing an excessive amount of smoke and toxic products.

In response to these new amendments and guidelines. NoFire Technologies, located in Upper Saddle River, N.J. has developed NoFire A-18 paint, which has been tested at Southwest Research Insti- tute of San Antonio, Texas, exceeding requirements and complying with Reso-

The 3E Quality Distinction Label shows at first glance which separators and systems need not shy away from any comparison. In oil treatment in shipping, in energy technol- ogy, in oil field technology as well as in industry. First, 'E' stands for 'Economy', since the new separators of the C-Generation allow unsurpassed maintenance intervals of up to 16000 hours. Second, 'E' stands for 'Efficiency', because over 90% of all abrasive solids are reliably separated; third, 'E' stands for 'Engagement', because nobody puts more effort into turning promises into customer satisfaction than we do. And we have been doing this for over 100 years.

Draeger Launches PointGard II

Draeger Safety's new PointGard II is a microprocessor-based, stand-alone gas detector that continuously monitors toxic gases and oxygen in ambient air.

Both Compact and economical, the instrument detects toxic levels of gases, as well as excess or deficient levels of oxygen in any non- classified area.

Bright LEDs dis- play the target gas concentration, while an adjustable vol-

I ume horn and two strobes provide alarm annunciation at the point of haz- ard. The PointGard's apex is its electro- chemical DraegerSensor — the most recent development in gas sensing tech- nology. Designed for accuracy, stability and long life span, the user-friendly product is a true turnkey gas detection system that contains optimized tempera- ture compensation with cross-sensitivity given to other gases minimized to ensure an accurate reading of the target gas concentration every time. 48D Circle 64 on Reader Service Card
