It is par- ticipating in a CCS (Carbon Capture andStorage) project called the RotterdamClimate Initiative (RCI) as one method of reducing Green House Gases (GHG)through the safe storage of CO2 under- ground. Plans are underway to use a piped network to collect and store CO2 from power generating stations in a cen- tral location. A CO2 tanker is used to transport the CO2 to an offshore installa- tion where it is pumped into a disused oilor gas well. This has the added bonus that when pumped into a partially depleted oilwell more oil can be extracted. Dockwise, was created in 1993 through a merger of two renowned companies, Wijsmuller Transport and Dock Express Shipping. Their assets combined to be- come one of the world's largest and most versatile seagoing heavy transport ship- ping company. The Dockwise fleet com- prises 19 (semi- submersible) vessels of different types and designs. Their activi- ties include the design, engineering, plan-ning and logistics necessary to performsatisfactory collection, transport and de- livery of a wide range of cargoes that range from a small 10 ton sailing to alarge production and drilling platform weighing up to 73,000 tons.Finter, with a fleet of over 50 vessels in ownership or control, rank in the top five shipping companies in the Netherlands.Flinter provides transport by sea and re- lated services managing and operating afleet of modern cargo vessels, the major- ity of which are ice-strengthened with acapacity of up to 11,000 t.JR Shipping group owns and operates a fast growing fleet of modern container feeder vessels sailing under the Dutch flag. The fleet continues to expand with newbuild vessels and competitive exist- ing tonnage with much of the fleet having the highest Swedish-Finnish ice class. All the vessels are financed through limited partnerships which JR Shipping struc-tures itself.Jumbo Shipping is specialized in heavy lift transportation of large unit weight and size cargo worldwide. Jumbo presently operates a fleet of 12 dedicated heavy lift ships, with a lift capacity of up to 1,800 t.Their fleet of vessels with dynamic posi- tioning offer a unique concept to load, transport and install offshore (sub sea) structures without interfaces or double handling. Where clients prefer an inte- grated transport solution, a sister organi- zation Jumbo Logistics provides a door-to-door service taking total respon- sibility during the entire transport chain. Jumbo Offshore has established itself in the offshore industry as a reliable in- stallation contractor, focusing on under- water structures, mooring systems and light weight jackets and topsides. Mak- ing this possible are two specialized in- stallation vessels each with two 900 t Huisman mast cranes, a Konsgberg dy- namic positioning system (DP2) and anenormous deck with large storage capac- ity. One of these vessels is also fitted with a deepwater deployment system (DDS) to facilitate lowering of heavy subsea structures to depths exceeding 10,000 ft. Ferry services to and from UK are op-erated by P & O Ferries with a freightand RoPax service between Rotterdam and Hull, UK. DFDS operate freight andRoPax services between Ijmuiden and Newcastle, UK. Stena Line operates a passenger andfreight service from the Hook of Hollandto Harwich, UK using two new super fer- ries. The MS Hollandica and MS Britan- nica were built in Wismar, Germany in 2010 and exhibit a number of advanced new features. The dimensions offer greater passenger comfort and cargo ca- pacity with faster loading. The special hull shape and underwater coating com- bine to reducing drag, thereby reducingfuel consumption and emissions.
