Pevey Named Sales Director
Mike Pevey has joined Becker Marine
Systems as director of sales, respon- sible for managing Becker’s range of high performance rudder and maneuver- ing systems in North America. Becker
Marine Systems recently announced the opening of its newest global offi ce in
North America. Located in Houston, Pe- vey will man the offi ce, providing local service to the marine industry.
Rodriguez Appointed at MarAd
Mike Rodriguez, U.S. Merchant Marine
Academy Alum, was sworn in as Deputy
Administrator of the U.S. Department of
Transportation Maritime Administration (MARAD). Rodriguez has more than 35 years experience as a maritime industry professional in both the public and pri- vate sectors. He joins MARAD from the Navy’s National Maritime Intelli- gence-Integration Offi ce. Prior to that, he served in the Military Sealift Com- mand and in other active duty tours in the Navy.
WSS Brazil Names Carvalho GM
Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) has appointed Antonio Carvalho Junior as its new General Manager for Brazil. A for- mer mariner, Carvalho brings 26 years of direct industry experience to this role from previous positions in logistics, shipping and ships agency.
DNV GL, N-KOM to Partner on LNG
A MOU was signed between DNV GL and Qatar’s Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) to promote lique- fi ed natural gas (LNG) as fuel within the maritime and offshore industry. As part of the agreement DNV GL and N-KOM will cooperate on the development and newbuilding of bunker barges, of cool- ant barges for temporary gas storage as well as to promote the use of LNG as fuel in the offshore sector.
