Arctic Engineer

Duties:

Undertake research and development projects associated with offshore instal- lations in ice-covered waters. Identify and develop R&D programs that can lead to the development of guidelines to promote safe Arctic offshore develop- ment Ice mechanics and ice loading on offshore structures Ice monitoring and ice management for offshore operations

Evaluation of offshore designs to oper- ate in ice environments, including fixed structures, floating structure and marine transportation Escape, evacuation and rescue (EER) system in harsh environ- ment Winterization of offshore installa- tion and ships Serve as leader of Arctic offshore engineering field and provide support to management and business development activities.

Participate in Arctic risk management activities

Background Requirements:

BS/MS degree in Ocean Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engi- neering with knowledge of ice sciences and ice/structure interaction 5+ years experience with projects on Arctic / cold regions Experience with fixed and/or

APE position in San Francisco, CA to oversee 2 gov’t ROS vessels. Excellent salary and bene- fits package and Relo pkg. Periodic travel is re- quired. All applicants must have min. 3 yrs of documented Port Engineer experience for large tonnage ocean-going vessels; and 5 yrs seago- ing exp. as a Chief Engineer or 1st Asst. Engineer on diesel ships, or a min. of 5 yrs of ship repair exp. with progressive responsibilities; or equiva- lent combination of edu. and exp. Comprehen- sive knowledge of tech. manuals, shipboard arrgmnt; functioning of machinery, repair tech- niques, costs and report prep. Able to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.

Technical writing, proposal preparation and ex- ternal communications abilities required. Excel- lent verbal and written communication, organizational and customer service skills. Must possess self-initiative and be self-motivated.
