Supervision exercised: Supervises subordi- nate administrative and student personnel in area of expertise General responsibilities: •Instruct students in professional engineer- ing labs such as refrigeration, auxiliary ma- chinery, diesel engines, steam generators, and gas and steam turbines •Maintain and improve engineering labs •Participate in annual Sea Term as Engineer- ing Instructor (all shipboard personnel are subject to random drug testing) •Assist the Engineering Department as di- rected
Qualifi cations and requirements: •Bachelors of Science in marine engineering or related fi eld •Professional experience in marine engineer- ing or related fi eld •USCG Third Assistant Engineer’s License (steam, motor and gas turbine propulsion) any horsepower with current STCW Certi- fi cation
Preferred Qualifi cations: •USCG Second Assistant Engineer’s Li- cense or higher, any horsepower, with cur- rent STCW Certifi cation •Massachusetts Stationary License, 3rd
Class Engineer License or higher •Any additional licenses or certifi cations re- lated to the fi eld of marine or facilities en- gineering •Teaching experience •Familiarization with the operation of engi- neering simulators •Specialty skills related to the fi eld of marine or facilities engineering
Salary: $40,000 – $50,000 The Acad- emy offers generous benefi ts policies and a competitive salary commensurate with qualifi cations and experience.
