GE Marine reports that National
Security Cutter Hamilton (WMSL 753) was commissioned by the United
States Coast Guard on December 6, 2014, at its home port of Charleston,
South Carolina. The vessel is powered by one GE LM2500 gas turbine and two diesel engines in a Combined Die- sel And Gas turbine (CODAG) pro- pulsion system. Constructed in Pasca- goula at Huntington Ingalls Industries’
Ingalls Shipbuilding division, Ham- ilton previously completed a series of sea trials that proved the successful operation of a variety of components including the CODAG system. Ham- ilton is the fourth in class for the U.S.
Coast Guard cutter program. The ship is 418-foot-long with a 54-foot beam, and has a displacement of 4,300 tons.
The LM2500 was manufactured at
GE’s Evendale, Ohio, facility.
