Herbert Engineering Corp. (HEC) is an employee owned corporation founded in 1963 with of? ces in the United

States and several locations overseas. HEC’s primary clients include shipowners, operators, charterers, shipyards, and government agencies. HEC’s primary area of expertise is in the conceptual, preliminary, and contract design of com- mercial vessels and selective offshore vessels. Notably, HEC is joint owner with ABS of a leading stability software com- pany, Herbert-ABS Software Solutions. Recent signi? cant contracts in the workboat sector include concept designs for LNG fuel systems, evaluation of LNG propulsion op- tions and preparation of advisories for LNG bunkering, along with concept designs for ATB bulk carriers.

THE COMPANY:

Creative Systems, Inc., is the maker of GHS, compre- hensive software that performs common and complex sta- bility analysis calculations quickly and ef? ciently. Unlike software that bases stability calculations on tables, GHS calculates trim, stability, and strength from mathematical and geometrical models of the vessel. GHS handles any- thing that ? oats or contains liquid. GHS is used to ana- lyze and design submarines, ferries, SWATHs dry docks, drilling platforms, tugs, yachts, and much more. Over thirty years of continually improving GHS has resulted in careful re? nement. Optional modules are available for SeaKeeping, Multi-body interactions, Longitudinal

THE CASE: ’s ? The ? rm agship stability & strength software has been used to design boats, ships and barges for 46 years. Their on-board software, GHS Load Monitor (GLM) has been used aboard ships to monitor stability and/or strength with various loads for decades. It gives vessel operators the abil- ity to quickly check the safety of present and anticipated loading conditions.
