Baden begins his apprenticeship working on the 1889 sailing log-bot- tomed bugeye, Edna E Lockwood. Baden recently attended The Land- ing School?s wooden boatbuilding program in Arundel, ME, where he mastered the fundamentals of con- structing both traditional and con- temporary wooden boats. Steve Kennedy was named as Head of Corporate Property and Inland Ma- rine Claims by Allianz Group?s special- ist corporate insurer, Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS). Ken- nedy brings over 23 years of experience handling commercial property claims and over 14 years managing and train- ing claims professionals. He joins Al- lianz from Zurich North America. He previously served at Allianz from 1998 through 2010 in a variety of senior management positions. Governor Bobby Jindal appointed Laney J. Chouest to the Board of the Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans. Chouest will serve a  ve- year term. Chouest joined Edison Chouest Offshore in 1983 and served in all aspects of company operations including design, construction and operation of various offshore sup- port vessels. Chouest earned his un- dergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in 1974, and served in many industry roles over the course of his career, notably as chairman of OMSA, the boards of directors for the National Ocean Industry Association and the U.S. Coast Guard?s NOSAC. Stephen Martinko will be the new executive director of the Port of Pitts- burgh Commission (PPC). Since January, 2013, Martinko has been the deputy staff director of the U.S. House of Representatives Transporta- tion and Infrastructure Committee and previously served as chief of staff for U.S. Congressman Bill Shuster (R-PA). Martinko was instrumental in the development of the WRRDA bill that was signed into law by Presi- dent Obama earlier this year. Amy Adams was named by Cum- mins Inc. as Vice President and Gen- eral Manager of Cummins Emission Solutions. Most recently Adams has served as the General Manager of the Global On-Highway business for Cummins Emission Solutions. ObituaryAJ Halavacs, ZF MarineZF Marine Propulsion Systems Miramar LLC announced the passing of AJ Halavacs , Pleasure Craft Product Line Manager, North and Central America. Halavacs had been  ghting an illness for a number of years. Halavacs? passion for the water and boating was evident in the fact that he was a 34 year veteran of the marine industry. Starting his career in 1980, Halavacs  rst started with ZF Industries in 1989. Proud to represent ZF and its products, he worked tirelessly to grow the organization from a relatively unknown newcomer in the North American marine industry to a market leader in marine propulsion technology. Halavacs is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jane, and their three sons ? Brett, Jeffrey, and Chris.
