ClassNK gains USCG authorization under ACP

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has authorized leading clas- si? cation society ClassNK to partici- pate in its Alternate Compliance Pro- gram (ACP) in addition to granting the authorization to carry out statu- tory surveys for US-? agged ships in 2011. The ACP was developed as an alternative method for US-? agged vessels to ful? ll the regulatory require- ments for construction and operation.

Under the program, ClassNK can now carry out a wide range of surveys and inspections on US-? agged vessels on behalf of the USCG.
