Brown And Symon Named To Board Of Liberian Shipowners' Council

The Liberian Shipowners' Council has elected Grady C. Brown as chairman of the board of directors for a two-year term, and Stanley Symon as vice chairman for a one-year term. Mr. Brown is vice president, operations and technical, of Conoco Shipping Company in Houston, and has been on the board of the LSC since 1976, serving for the past two years as chairman of the Labor Committee.

Mr. Symon is currently senior vice president for Stolt-Nielsen, Inc., and general manager of its Ship Management Department, with responsibility for a fleet of 27 ships, most of which are modern parcel chemical carriers.

Stolt-Nielsen being a Norwegian corporation, and Conoco being a major U.S. oil company, the appointments reflect both the international nature of the Liberian Shipowners' Council members and the mix of oil majors and independent owners.
