Jamesbury Offers N e w Compact Corrosion-Resistant Actuators

—Literature Available A new line of corrosion-resistant, compact pneumatic actuators for Jamesbury quarterturn valves is now available from Jamesbury Corp. According to the manufacturer, type SP actuators revolutionize actuator performance by combining superior corrosion resistance, fewer moving parts and simple design for long, economical, trouble-free service in on-off and modulating control applications.

Units feature an advanced single stainless steel rack and pinion system driven by a distinctive one-piece thermoplastic shuttling piston for smooth (minimum backlash) operation. The single piston exhibits balanced travel which is exceptionally stable, thereby avoiding scuffing and galling. The piston's O-ring sealing and the actuator's precision molded housing, with its low frictional coefficient, provide reduced bearing and seal wear for superior cycle life.

Rated at 125 psi supply pressure, Type SP actuators are available in a choice of doubleacting and spring-return models for a wide range of fluid-handling applications. Spring-return units feature pre-loaded springs, designed for infinite life, and packaged in a self-contained cartridge for safer handling and easy maintenance.

Fail-open or closed operation can be quickly changed in the field by simply inverting the actuator. Travel stops in both directions provide externally adjustable range of 90 degrees (plus or minus 5 degrees). A full complement of optional accessories and control devices that include limit switches, position indicators, two-stage flow controllers, programmable cyclers and positioners are available to satisfy virtually all automatic valve requirements.
