NABRICO To Build Sections For Additional T-5 Tankers
Nashville Bridge Company (NABRICO) will build special sections in Nashville, Tenn., for the three additional T-5 product tankers authorized recently by Ocean Carriers, Inc. of Houston, Texas.
Authorization for the tankers brings the total contract for Ocean Carriers to five and represents a total construction cost of approximately $300 million.
The sections will be sent as floating units to Tampa, Fla., where the tankers will be completed by The American Ship Building Companv, parent company of NABRICO. The tankers will be chartered to the Military Sealift Command of the U.S.
Navy.
In addition to NABRICO, The American Ship Building Company has subsidiaries on the Great Lakes and Florida's west coast. The company is headquartered in Tampa, Fla.
NABRICO has been in the marine field for more than 60 years and is primarily concerned with the design, engineering and construction of grain and coal barges, deck barges, liquid tank barges, and cement barges for river and ocean services as well as drydocks and towboats. The company also has a plant in Ashland City, Tenn.
