Peebles Elected Senior VP Of Transportation And Cargo Handling At Dravo

E.B. Peebles Jr. has been elected senior vice president, transportation and cargo-handling, of Dravo Corporation, Pittsburgh, Pa.

In this new position, he will have overall responsibility for the firm's barge line subsidiary, Dravo Mechling Corporation, and its stevedoring and port management s u b s i d i a r y , Ryan-Walsh Stevedoring Company, Inc. Mr.

Peebles continues as president of the latter organization.

Mr. Peebles began his business career with the former Ryan Stevedoring Company as a clerk on the docks in Panama City, Fla. Advancing through the company, he was elected a vice president in 1956 and executive vice president in 1965.

When Ryan merged with Walsh Stevedoring Company in 1974, he was elected senior executive vice president of the new organization, Ryan-Walsh Stevedoring Company, Inc., which ranked as one of the largest maritime cargo handlers on the Gulf and South Atlantic Coasts. He became pres- ident of the firm in 1981, several months after it became a part of Dravo.

Pittsburgh-based Dravo Corporation is a diversified firm with operations throughout the world.

In addition to its transportation and cargo-handling a c t i v i t i e s, Dravo is engaged in engineering and construction, manufacturing, and natural resources development.
