Sier-Bath Booklet Describes Barge Pump

Available from the Sier-Bath Division of Gilbarco, Inc. is an eight-page booklet on the features and applications of Sier- Bath's NL Barge Pump, which offers substantial operating savings and handling versatility to barge users unloading petroleum, chemical and other industrial products.

Rated at 2,800 U.S. gpm or 4,000 bph of #6 fuel oil at 1,200 rpm, this positive displacement pump utilizes the same size piping and will maintain the same capacity when pumping substances ranging from asphalt to #2 fuel oil. The pump is self-priming and will not vapor lock. It also has excellent suction or NPSH capabilities.

Modern screw design techniques developed by Sier-Bath engineers allow suction lifts of 15-16 inch Hg and higher at the pump without cavitation damage or vibration. The vertically mounted pump can handle several separate compartments from a deep-well tube within the barge, or be submerged directly into the liquid. The driver is mounted on deck. Because no pump room is needed, the pump uses a minimum of valuable cargo space and payloads are high.
