Brown & Root Names Executive Committee To Manage Company

A five-man Executive Committee has been appointed by Brown & Root's Board of Directors to manage all phases of the company's operations on an interim basis. The announcement was made following the January 23, 1977, death of Foster Parker, president of Brown & Root, the Houston (Texas)-based engineering and construction firm which is a subsidiary of Halliburton Company.

Halliburton Board chairman John P. Harbin said that the delegation of complete authority to manage the Brown & Root operations to this Executive Committee presents no change in organization, and will permit the company to operate as it has in the past.

The Committee is composed of Harry G. Austin, Hugh W.

Gordon Jr., Ben H. Powell Jr., Donald E. Warfield, and Richard O. Wilson. Each is a Brown & Root director and member of the company's Operating Committee.

Mr. Austin, an employee for 36 years, is executive vice presidentengineering and construction. He has served in various executive positions since 1960, when he was named vice president of business development.

Mr. Gordon is executive vice president-marine. He joined the company in 1951, and served in various engineering and management positions until 1965, when he was named vice president of foreign marine operations.

Mr. Powell is executive vice president and chief counsel, a position he has held since 1972.

He was employed by the company in 1955 as vice president, director and general counsel.

Mr. Warfield is Group vice president-finance and administration, a position he has held since 1972. Joining Brown & Root in 1942, he held various administrative and accounting positions until being named controller in 1963.

Mr. Wilson was named Group vice president in 1970, after extensive overseas service in the company's Marine Division. He joined Brown & Root in 1957, and was elected vice president in 1968.
