PRMSA Names Irizarry Deputy Executive Director

Ruddie E. Irizarry has been named deputy executive director of the Puerto Rico Maritime Shipping Authority, it was announced in San Juan, Puerto Rico, by PRMSA's executive director Roberto Lugo D'Acosta.

Mr. Irizarry becomes PRMSA's second highest official, after an 11-year career in the maritime industry. PRMSA is the operator of Navieras de Puerto Rico, the ocean cargo line linking San Juan with the six mainland ports of Elizabeth, Baltimore, Charleston, Jacksonville, Miami, and New Orleans.

The newly appointed PRMSA deputy executive director returns to Puerto Rico after a stint with Totem Ocean Trailer Express (TOTE) where he served as vice president-operations for the carrier, providing service between Tacoma, Wash., and Anchorage, Alaska.

Mr. Irizarry also served in San Juan as vice president-operations for Transamerican Trailer Transport (TTT), and previously as operations manager for Seatrain in Puerto Rico.

The PRMSA official retired from the Army Corps of Engineers in 1965, following 21 years of service. A native of the Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, he holds a Business Administration degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
