Ingalls Companies Name William Kearney

William J. Kearney has been named president and chief operating officer of the Ingalls Companies, P.O. Box 2527, Birmingham, Ala. 35202.

The announcement was made by Mrs. Elesabeth Ingalls Gillet and Mrs. Barbara Ingalls Shook, co-chairmen of the Ingalls Companies.

At the same time, James W.

Gore was named vice presidentfinance of the Birmingham, Ala.- based company.

Ingalls is one of the nation's largest independent steel fabricators, with operating subsidiaries and facilities at 20 locations throughout the United States, and is a leader in the steel service center industry throughout the Southeast.

The Ingalls Companies today employ more than 2,000 people, and have experienced gross sales in excess of $100 million.

Mr. Kearney is a native of Chicago, 111. He is a graduate of Loyola University and received an M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago. Prior to joining Ingalls in 1963 as executive vice president, Mr. Kearney worked in the structural steel area for 10 years, and as a certified public accountant for 10 years. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The Executive Club of Chicago, The Economic Club of Chicago, The Financial Executives Institute, and the Alabama Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Gore, who has served as vice president and controller of Phipps Land Company, Inc. in Atlanta, Ga., prior to his appointment as vice president-finance of the Ingalls Companies, is a native of Clanton, Ala. He is a 1961 accounting graduate of the University of Alabama and is an active member of the Financial Executives Institute, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.

At the time of the company's founding in 1910 in Birmingham by Robert I. Ingalls, the principal products were ornamental iron, fire escapes, stairways and small projects requiring low quantities of fabricated steel.

Today, there are 20 Ingalls Companies located around the country, and you will find the Ingalls's name stamped in steel and construction sites all over the United States and 17 other countries from Spain to the Philippines.

The Companies' steel products are used in the construction of high rise apartments, office buildings, industrial and public buildings, institutional and power plants, bridges, storage tanks, and barges.

At Cape Canaveral, Fla., Ingalls supplied and erected the steel for the Apollo Launch Umbilical Tower used in most of the nation's moon programs.

Ingalls also fabricated and erected the steel used in Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium, Atlanta Stadium, and the new Birmingham Civic Center.

Ingalls family spokesman, Mrs.

Elesabeth Ingalls Gillet, said: "The Ingalls family has owned and operated the business for three generations, and we are looking forward to continued economic growth in the future."
