Konel Names Abbott West Coast Manager

David L. Abbott has joined Konel Corporation as West Coast Area manager. The appointment was announced by Ken Leondar, general manager of the South San Francisco, Calif.-based marine electronics and communications company.

Mr. Abbott will be responsible for dealer relations on the West Coast and in Alaska as Konel's direct factory representative.

Mr. Abbott served 20 years with the U.S. Coast Guard as an enlisted man and as a commissioned officer, attaining the rank of lieutenant commander. He had several significant assignments, including command of ships and responsibility for the operation of far-flung communication systems.

Mr. Abbott is active in several national marine oriented organizations and presently serves as chairman of the Manufacturers' Group of the National Marine Electronics Association.

Mr. Abbott will be based at Konel headquarters at 271 Harborway, South San Francisco, Calif. 94080.

Konel manufactures and markets a complete line of marine communication equipment, including VHF and SSB radiotelephones, and is the U.S. distributor for Furuno Electric Co., featuring the Konel/Furuno radar, loran and recorder product lines.
