EDO Corporation Awarded $7-Million Foreign Order

EDO Corporation, College Point, N.Y. 11356, a pioneer designer and manufacturer of avionics, oceanographic and electronic equipment, has announced that it has increased its overseas business with the receipt of an order of slightly more than $7 million from a foreign customer. Anticipated spares orders later in the year, according to William R.

Ryan, chairman and president of EDO, "could increase the total contract to approximately $9 million." Mr. Ryan further stated: "This is the contract referred to in our last annual report, which stated that negotiations had been completed with a new South American customer for our hull-mounted sonar equipment. This new contract brings our current backlog of unfilled orders to approximately $45 million, which is comparable to our backlog as of June 30 last year." EDO, a supplier of sonar systems for the U.S. Navy, as well as many foreign countries, was founded in 1925 in College Point.

The company also produces floats, loran (long range navigation equipment), avionics and oceanographic equipment. EDO has eight subsidiaries and divisions located across the country.
