$19.9-Million Contract Awarded Tracor By Navy
Tracor, Inc., Austin, Texas, has received a multiyear contract from the U.S. Navy Electronic Systems Engineering Activity, St. Inigoes, Md., to provide engineering support services for test and evaluation programs.
William C. Moyer, Ph.D., group vice president of Tracor Applied Sciences, said the work represents significant new involvement of the company in the integration, test, and evaluation of new and refurbished communications systems for combatant and auxiliary ships, as well as for U.S. Marine Corps applications.
The one-year contract includes two one-year options and has a total potential value of $19,985,000.
Dr. Moyer said the work will be performed by Tracor's Electronics Systems Division from its operations in St. Inigoes, Md.; Falls Church and Norfolk, Va.; and San Diego, Calif. The division is under the general management of Robert G. Shuster, division vice president.
Mr. Shuster announced that Ara Sagerian will serve as project manager, and that a 50,000 square-foot building now under construction at California, Md., will be the principal operating site for the project. With the completion of the new building in December 1983, Tracor will occupy some 95,000 square feet of office and laboratory space in Southern Maryland and employ 425 engineers, technicians, and support personnel devoted to support of U.S. Navy programs.
