Prudential Lines Names John Goode To Managerial Post

The appointment of John B.

Goode as operations manager for Prudential Lines in southern California was announced by Capt.

M.H.K. Aschemeyer, general manager for the company's Pacific Southwest region.

Working from Prudential's southern California offices at 444 West Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, Mr. Goode will be responsible for all vessels, stevedore and terminal activities in Los Angeles, San Diego and Port Hueneme.

In addition, he will assist with port operations at Matzatlan and Manzanillo. He succeeds Capt.

Chris Jensen who has been transferred to Prudential's Pacific Division headquarters in San Francisco.

Mr. Goode joined Prudential- Grace Lines in 1973 as an operations representative, and two years later "signed on" as a navigator aboard a 36-foot sailboat sailing to Mexico and the Sea of Cortez. Following his return, he joined Crescent Wharf & Warehouse as containers operations superintendent before returning to Prudential Lines.

Born in Palo Alto, Calif., Mr.

Goode was graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y. As a cadet, he sailed aboard American-flag fleet vessels operated by Lykes Bros. Steamship Company, Delta Lines, and the Gulf & South American Steamship Company.

Prudential Lines operates four 100-passenger Cruiseliners — the Santas Mercedes, Maria, Mariana and Magdalena — two 20,000-ton cargo vessels, the S/S Seajet and Ocean Jet, which carry container and breakbulk cargo, and six 12- passenger cargoliners that operate from East Coast ports.
