Detroit Diesel Allison Names Karl Gierman

Karl E. Gierman has been named manager of industrial and marine sales for Diesel Operations, Detroit Diesel Allison.

Mr. Gierman's appointment was announced by Chester B. Clum, DDA general sales manager.

A 1952 industrial engineering graduate of General Motors Institute, Mr. Gierman also holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Wayne State University.

He joined Detroit Diesel Allison in 1962 following design, manufacturing and sales experience in the automotive industry.

He was a zone sales manager in the division's Great Lakes Region and has held various sales engineering and staff assignments.

In 1969, he was appointed staff project engineer in the advanced product development section of the GM engineering staff.

Returning to DDA in 1972, Mr.

Gierman was named manager of field operations administration, special project manager for the Alaska Pipeline, and manager of product analysis and development.

In his new position, Mr. Gierman succeeds Day W. Radebaugh, who retired under provisions of the GM Retirement Program
