VTC Expands Possibilities With Cutler-Hammer Agreement
Vosper Thornycroft Controls (VTC) has expanded its expertise in electrical power and propulsion systems by entering into a Systems Builder Agreement with Cutler-Hammer (C-H). Previously, VTC has just operated at the lower end of the market in switchboard and electrical systems, concentrating on ships with a requirement for up to 1,000 volts.
The new link with C-H will enable VTC to supply the market where systems operate at up to 17.5 kV. The agreement allows for VTC to make use of C-H products, with VTC applying its naval and marine knowledge to the packaging of the products, as well as the design and building. The first contract taking advantage of the new agreement is already in hand, as VTC will design and build a 6.6 kV switchboard for the new trimaran warship demonstrator.
