Hapag-Lloyd (America) Announces Change Of Chief Executive

The executive board of Hapag- Lloyd AG, Hamburg, West Germany, recently announced that Hans D. Druegg, president and chief executive officer of Hapag- Lloyd (America) Inc., will assume an executive position in Hapag-Lloyd's European marketing and sales organization.

He will be succeeded in his present position by Olaf von Maydell on March 1, 1983. Mr.

von Maydell has most recently served in Hamburg as managing director of fleet management.

Mr. Druegg served as head of Hapag-Lloyd's American operation since 1978, and immediately prior to that was a managing director for Hapag-Lloyd's Latin American Services in Hamburg.

His career has been wide-ranging, having also served as director of Hapag-Lloyd's Australian and New Zealand service. As one of the directors of Hapag-Lloyd's North Atlantic Service during the 1960s, he was instrumental in bringing Hapag-Lloyd into containerization. In his early years in the industry, he served in various positions in France, England, and West Germany.
