Crane Materials Launches TimberGuard

Crane Materials International (CMI) launched the TimberGuard product line, an innovative patent pending coated wood system. TimberGuard is designed to pair nature and technology by combining standard treated wood timbers and pilings with a polymer encasement to create a durable and long-lasting product for the marine environment.

TimberGuard's polymer encasement protects the wood from attack by marine borers. These relentless creatures are known for eating through wood pilings used in the waterways to support bridges and piers. Marine borers began to flourish as an unintended consequence of the Environmental Waterways Act of 1975 in which the federal government mandated the clean up of our waterways. As water quality improved, so too did the environment for marine organisms, causing an explosive growth of marine borers that feast on timbers located in the water.
