Alfa Laval Offers New Plate Heat Exchanger Steam Heater Line
Alfa Laval introduced a line of plate heat exchangers for steam heating in the marine industries, reportedly the first gasketed plate heat exchangers series designed specifically for use with industrial steam and includes two models suitable in marine duties as jacket water coolers, tank cleaning water heaters and dumping condensers. This new steam heater series extends design temperatures to 350 degrees F and increases design pressures. The two models are the TS6 and TS20M. The smaller model, the TS6, has a capacity of 2 to 18 MW at a steam condensation temperature of 300 degrees F and 2 to 12 MW at a steam condensation temperature of 248 degrees F. The larger model, theTS20M, KMEextends liquid flowrates up to 3,900 gpm depending on the media, permitted pressure drop and temperature It has a capacity of 2.5 to 15 MW at a steam condensation temperature of 300 degrees F and 2.5 to 9 MW at a steam condensation temperature of 248 degrees F. The new TS-M plate design is optimized for condensing steam in one channel and heating liquid in the alternating channel. The robust construction of this series eliminates thermal fatigue and, as a result of its low hold-up volume, allows rapid temperature control.
