Smatco Holds Seminars For Winch Operators

TBW Industries, a manufacturer of offshore deck equipment and pneumatic bulk handling systems, recently conducted the first of several scheduled winch operator seminars at its Central Office, located in Houma, La. Smatco is one of the world's leading manufacturers of offshore deck equipment and is especially noted for its line of anchor handling/towing winches.

Robert M. Thompson, president and general manager, stated that the school, the first in its field, was an extension of TBW Industries' program to provide the best support system possible for its products. The seminars are conducted under a small group format and designed to cover the interest of all related offshore personnel. Those attending receive the close personal attention of the Smatco staff throughout the lectures and plant tours. The three-day gathering covered the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Smatco winches.

Mr. Thompson went on to say: "The great emphasis we have placed on proper operation and maintenance of these winches has proved its worth in the prevention of unnecessary downtime and loss of revenue." The seminars are being held on a bimonthly basis. For further information concerning scheduling and registration, contact Charles White, TBW Industries, Inc., P.O.
