NICOR Expands Offshore Fleet With Acquisition Of Two Additional Companies
NICOR Inc., Naperville, 111., c h a i r m a n and p r e s i d e n t C.J.
Gauthier recently announced acquisition w'th NICOR common stock of two marine transportation companies — Arthur Levy Enterprises, Inc. and Offshore Island Boats, Inc. These two companies along with Acadian Marine Service Inc. will operate as NICOR's offshore marine group.
This acquisition will place the offshore marine group among the top 10 offshore service fleets in the world.
Both Levy Enterprises and Offshore Island Boats will operate 16 supply vessels from their Gulf of Mexico headquarters in Morgan City, La., providing logistical support to offshore oil and gas drilling rigs located in the U.S.
Gulf of Mexico. Arthur I. Levy Sr., John Alcina, and Tim Mc- Keand will remain as executives of the company. The current management will stay intact.
With this acquisition, NICOR subsidiary companies will operate a fleet of 30 special-purpose vessels serving the offshore oil and gas industry. Their activities include: oceanographic and seismographic research, freight and container transportation, vessel chartering and ocean towing in the U.S. and Mexican Gulf, Caribbean, and offshore West Africa.
