John Crane Bulletin Describes New Compact Package Seals

A new bulletin from John Crane-Houdaille, Inc., Morton Grove, 111., explains the benefits of upgrading sealing with compact Type 88 and Type 88S package seals.

The publication provides sizing information and diagrams illustrating both Type 88 double or tandem package seals (for more hazardous and abrasive application where multiple seal configurations are needed) and Type 88S single package seals ( for single seal applications where limited stuffing box space is available).

According to the manufacturer, Type 88 and Type 88S seals are simple to order, install, maintain and repair or replace. Available from any of the 100 John Crane North American branch offices, these seals can be ordered by knowing the shaft or shaft sleeve size.

The manufacturer contends that the seals are simple to install and maintain because they are factory-assembled and require no alterations in existing equipment. The seals fit most conventional stuffing boxes, and they are said to be field repairable.
