Staff Additions And Changes Announced By ACBL

Three organizational changes and two new staff additions were announced recently in Jeffersonville, Ind., by American Commercial Barge Line Company (ACBL).

Carl Olson, formerly director of dry bulk sales, has been promoted to sales manager for ACBL. Headquartered at the general offices in Jeffersonville, he has been associated with ACBL since 1971. He has been engaged in barging operations since 1956, working for A.L. Mechling Barge Line and Mid-Valley Towing Company prior to joining ACBL.

Rudy P. Janota, formerly sales representative in ACBL's Great Lakes Region, which is headquartered in Chicago, 111., has been transferred to the Southern Region offices at New Orleans, La., where he will have expanded responsibilities as the sales representative in that area of the company's operations. Mr. Janota holds a B.A. degree in psychology from Valparaiso University and did two years of graduate work at the University of Chicago.

Patricia S. Sendera, formerly a secretary in the Great Lakes Region office at Chicago, has been promoted to sales coordinator for ACBL operations in the Chicago area. She has been with ACBL the past five years.

Wayne E. Christy has been named sales representative in ACBL's Eastern Region, which is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Mr. Christy, formerly a sales representative for the Santa Fe Railroad, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Pittsburgh. He is licensed to practice before both the Interstate Commerce Commission and the Federal Maritime Commission.

Walter W. Smith has joined the Chicago office as sales representative in the Great Lakes Region. He attended the University of Illinois until last May, and was employed in a sales capacity with a truck parts firm until joining ACBL.

ACBL is the principal operating company in the Inland Waterways Services Division of Texas Gas Transmission Corporation, which has other major interests in gas transmission services, oil and gas exploration and production, general commodities trucking, new automobile transport activities, and shipbuilding.
