John Grimwade Francis Named President Of Asiatic Petroleum Corp.

John Grimwade Francis has been nominated president of Asiatic Petroleum Corporation, taking over from J.D. Ritchie, who has retired.

Born in London, England, in 1923, Mr. Francis joined Royal Dutch/Shell service in the United Kingdom in 1940. During the years 1942-46, he served as a pilot with the Royal Air Force and the Fleet Air Arm, in the course of which he received his flying training from the United States Navy. On his return, he went to Shell Oil Company in the United States on a training assignment.

In the subsequent years, he served Royal Dutch/Shell Group companies in different parts of the world, including Shanghai and Nairobi, among others.

Late in 1960, Mr. Francis became general manager in Kenya and the Islands (Mauritius, the Seychelles and Zanzibar), and in early 1964 was appointed chairman of the Shell and BP companies in the East African Area, and of East African Oil Refineries Limited.

Returning to London early in 1966, he joined Shell International Petroleum to work in Planning Economics Division of the Marketing Co-ordination. In March 1967, he became Area Coordinator, Consolidated Area in the Regional Co-ordination — Oil and Gas, Africa and South Asia, the position he held until his appointment as president of Asiatic Petroleum Corporation.

For the last three years, Mr.

Francis has been managing director of The Consolidated Petroleum Co., Ltd., and associated companies.
