Saint John Shipbuilding Completes Trials Of 38,000-DWT Tanker M / V Dolores Swann

Swann Oil, Inc., an independent marketer of industrial fuel oils, recently announced the successful completion of sea trials and the formal christening of its wholly owned ocean tanker, the M/V Dolores Swann.

The M/V Dolores Swann was constructed in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, by the Saint John Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co., Ltd. A 38,000-dwt dieselpowered bulk oil carrier, the M/V Dolores Swann was formally christened by her namesake, Mrs.

Dolores A. Swann, wife of the president of Swann Oil, Inc., Leonard A. Swann Jr.

The M / V Dolores Swann is currently in the final stages of preparation for her maiden voyage, product pickup in the Caribbean, at which time she will be fully integrated into Swann Oil's logistic system. These ocean transpor- Gentation operations support Swann's domestic supply and distribution system of more than 500 trucks and a variety of tug-barge units, all completely owned and operated by Swann Oil, Inc.

The privately held firm, with executive offices at 130 Presidential Boulevard, Bala Cynwyd, Pa. 19004, has deepwater terminals in Philadelphia, Pa., Chesapeake, Va., and Savannah, Ga., and pipeline or barge terminals in Sassamansville and Pinedale, Pa., Augusta, Ga., and Wilmington, N.C., with supply and distribution offices in New York, N.Y. and Houston, Texas. Swann Oil, Inc., founded in 1948, is one of the largest independent suppliers of middle distillate and residual fuels for industry in the Middle Atlantic States and the Southeast.
