Texaco Announces Three Appointments In Marine Department

Texaco Inc. has announced three appointments in its Marine Department. Richard Willoch has been named assistant to the vice president, Harry N. Pappas has been appointed manager-U.S.

Fleet, and Gordon Van Hook has been named assistant manager- U.S. Fleet.

In their new assignments, Messrs. Willoch, Pappas and Van Hook will continue to be located at Port Arthur, Texas, headquarters for Texaco's U.S. Fleet.

Mr. Willoch was graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nautical science-marine transportation, and joined Texaco's Marine Department as a third mate in the company's U.S. tanker fleet that same year. In 1960, he was appointed assistant to the fleet superintendent for Texaco's U.S.

Fleet, and later that same year he was named fleet superintendent.

After assignments with subsidiaries of Texaco Inc. in Italy and Switzerland, Mr. Willoch returned to Italy in 1968 as vice president of Texaco S.p.A. He was appointed manager, Operations Division of Texaco's Marine Department in New York in 1970, and was named manager of Texaco's U.S. Fleet at Port Arthur in 1971.

Mr. Pappas joined Texaco's U.S. Fleet in 1953. He served as ship's officer in a variety of tanker assignments until 1968, when he was named port captain in Long Beach, Calif. In 1970, Mr.

Pappas was appointed port captain in New York. He was named superintendent-fleet operations for Texaco's U.S. Fleet at Port Arthur in 1971. Mr. Pappas became assistant manager-administration in 1973, and was named assistant manager-port operations in 1974. He was appointed assistant manager-U.S. Fleet in 1976.

In his new assignment, Mr.

Pappas's responsibilities will cover all activities of the company's U.S. Fleet, including tankers, barges, tugs and port offices.

Mr. Van Hook was graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree. After an extensive career, including vessel command, for the U.S. Navy, he joined Texaco's Marine Department in 1972 as superintendent-safety and training. In 1973, he was appointed superintendent-fleet operations for the company's U.S.

Fleet.
