APL Makes Personnel Promotions Worldwide

The American President Lines of San Francisco, Calif., has announced a series of personnel promotions and transfers in its worldwide organization.

Donald J. Duffy has been named regional marketing manager- northern California, replacing Ronald J. Farrell, who has resigned. William B. Kelly, previously managing director-midwest region, has been transferred to New York as managing director- Atlantic region to replace Mr.

Duffy. Donald J. Seellato, formerly managing director-Hong Kong, has assumed the post of managing director-midwest region.

Mr. Duffy, Mr. Kelly and Mr.

Seellato will report directly to G.E. Bart, senior vice president.

Other new staff changes announced include the appointment of Robert A. Hardwicke as general manager-terminal operations.

Formerly managing director-Taiwan, he will report directly to Norman Scott, president.

Norman Sherer has been named special assistant to the vice president- operations, Leslie A. Harlander.

Russell Johnson, previously manager-pricing Japan, has been named managing director-Taiwan.

He will report directly to Richard J. Degan, vice president-Far East.

Michael J. Goggins has been designated director of sales- North America, a new position.

Patrick Roche assumes Mr. Goggins's former responsibilities of refrigerated cargo sales and has been appointed director-military and refrigerated services. Reed O. Clark will assist Mr. Roche as military and refrigerated services representative.

William F. Whalen has been promoted to director-conventional freight services from line manager.

Mr. Goggins, Mr. Roche and Mr. Whalen will continue to report to T.J. Rhein, director-worldwide sales.

H.R. Mitsuno has been appointed manager-Japan sales, North America. He will report to Mr. Goggins.

Capt. Ralph Tate assumes the new post of manager-operations control, reporting to Charles Deering, director-vessel operations.

Captain Tate was formerly manager-Oakland terminal.
